So what is a surface computing platform?

Basically it’s a method of making life easier for you. This allows direct interaction so you can use touch and gestures to do things instead of a keyboard and a mouse. Currently, if you buy an item which is touch-sensative it is most like to only be able to be controlled by one thing at a time, however, with surface computing you can do thing simultaneously- multiple touch. Addationally, surface computing comes with many more advantages such as multi-users and object recognition.

Commercial Microsoft Surface unit is $12,500 (unit only)

Developer Microsoft Surface units costs $15,000 and includes a developer unit, support and five site                                 licenses for access to the SDK

At this moment, Microsoft Surface is unavailable to individual customers. Although it is being sold to large scale leisure, entertainent and retailers in the U.S.
